In order to maintain health, we need to sync our biological clocks with daily rhythms everyday. Our central clock is reset when the sun’s light comes in through our eyes in the morning, ideally within an hour of sunrise.
Our peripheral clock, outside of the brain, is in our gut. This clock is reset each day when we eat our first meal - specifically, our first servings of protein for the day, ideally 30 - 60 minutes after we’ve gone outside to get natural sunlight.
