With the availability of improved brain imaging, our understanding of the effects of concussions on human health has changed considerably in the last few years. We now understand that concussions can occur with less forceful impact than originally thought and that functional deficits can occur long after the event.
So have a think: do you have a history of taking hits to the head? Falling or banging your head? Accidents? If so, was the issue identified and treated?
If you suspect that untreated concussions could potentially be effecting you, getting a functional neurological examination can be very valuable. I recommend practitioners trained by the Carrick Institute or by Dr Robert Melillo. There may be others but these are the two I’ve done training with and am aware of. Their practical knowledge of how to assess and support healing in the nervous system is phenomenal.
